What is Virgin Remy Hair?

Virgin remy hair also known as cuticle hair, is hair that has been collected from a single person/donor. The hair is gathered into a ponytail, tied, and then cut. This method of hair collection keeps all of the hairs cuticles running in the same direction. This is also called uni-directional hair. The term "virgin" hair means the hair did not undergo any type of chemical processing for color, waves, and curls. This hair has been left in it’s natural state. Virgin remy hair depending on the origin, typically comes in only dark colors, for example: 1B or #2 the natural hair color of the donor. This hair is tangle free and can last up to 18 months or more depending on personal maintenance, care, and wear of the hair. This is the highest quality of hair.

What is Remy Hair?

Remy hair is hair that has been collected in the same manner as virgin remy hair except the hair is gently processed for color, waves and curls. This hair is tangle free and can last for 12 months or more depending on personal maintenance and care for the hair.

What is Non-Remy Human Hair?

Non-remy hair is the most available human hair on the market and also the cheapest. It is also known as "fallen hair". This means that the hair is collected from multiple sources. It's been collected in piles, therefore the hairs cuticles are not ran in the same direction. The hair is totally unusable, it should not be used for extensions and hair pieces whatsoever. The hair then has to be put through a process called an acid bath, which removes the cuticles/cuticle layer of the hair. Once this is done, the hair is then dipped into a silicone coating to give it a smooth, shiny, and healthy feel and appearance. Once the silicon layer wears off this hair will eventually start to tangle and will then be in need of restoration to bring it back to life.

Non-Remy hair only last for 3 to 6 months. One way to tell if the hair you've purchased is non-remy hair is to run your finger from the bottom of the hair to the root. Cuticle hair will feel rough as you go against the the cuticle. Silicone dipped hair will be smooth in both directions.
